Farewell to ARC4
As of now, ARC4 is now inaccessible to users and officially unavailable.
It has had a good run - since it came online in 2019, ARC4 has run over 300 million core-hours of computational work, submitted by nearly 2000 unique users.
This usage was not evenly distributed; the median user used around 82000 core-hours (c.f. the mean of ~156k). 188 users used less than a single core-hour, and 86 people made an account and never ran a job. At the other end, our most prolific user - who will not be named here - racked up 16.2 million core-hours, which is more than 5% of ARC4's usage. Your prize is in the post (not really).
Now begins the slightly sad, but ultimately exciting process of switching off and decommissioning the hardware; sad because we will miss our old friend, but exciting as it frees up space for Calder, our next HPC system.
Until then, please use Aire as the default HPC system. For support with Aire, please submit a ticket on our system, or ask a question in the Teams channel. Thank you to all HPC users for being part of this journey with us!
