Louise Grimble

Area of expertise

Molecular Cell Biology; Bioinformatics

Louise joined the Research Computing Team in January 2023 as a Research Software Engineer Assistant. She received her bachelor’s degree in molecular cell biology and a Masters (by Research) degree in bioinformatics from the University of York. Here, she worked with the Chong lab to develop a genome annotation pipeline to identify metabolic pathways in microbes within anaerobic digesters.

Following on from her studies, Louise worked as an RSE, at Newcastle University/ Wellcome Sanger Institute, developing workflows & pipelines to process and visualize research data generated by the Haniffa lab. Louise has experience with Python and R for data handling and visualisation, as well as Linux for bash scripting and HPC use and finally Snakemake and Nextflow for developing pipelines. She is interested in making software for researchers that is not only accessible but will provide meaningful insights.
