By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Maintain a clear, reliable history of your work so you always know what changed, when, and why.
- Reproduce results confidently by linking outputs to the exact version of code or text that produced them.
- Collaborate without clashes, overwrites, or confusion about whose changes are whose.
- Share your work cleanly and transparently with colleagues or the wider research community.
This course is practical and hands‑on, with guided exercises to help you build confidence using version control in your research workflow.
Prerequisites
For the best experience, participants should be familiar with basic programming concepts (in any language) or have previously completed either the SWD1a or SWD1b courses.

This course runs across two half‑day sessions: one online and one in person.
